AIM® 7.1 Beta for Windows :

AIM 7.1 Beta 3 is here! This beta improves the stability of AIM 7.1 and fixes several issues. As a reminder, AIM 7.1 adds the following features:

Ability to choose which services to push your AIM status.
Windows 7 improvements.
Improved upgrade mechanism.
A new look to notification “toasts” that appear in the lower right of your screen.
Mail notifications now have subject and sender.
Add button at top of buddy list.

If you are currently using AIM 7.1, please continue to use the client and you will be auto-upgraded shortly (this will help us test the update mechanism). Should you decide to download immediately, you may certainly do so. Please be aware that there are different version numbers for Beta 3 depending on how you choose to update, however both releases are exactly the same.

If you aren’t on AIM 7.1 yet, please go ahead and download and get started using the latest AIM 7.1 beta. Thanks in advance for your help in testing AIM 7.1!

Beta Reminder: AIM for Mac 2.1 Is Here!

AIM 2.0 for Mac was released late last month, and not even one month later, the AOL Mac Team has built upon last month’s release with their new Mac 2.1 Beta.

Some of the new additions include:

Easier WebMail Message Composition: “Email …” and “Gear” are now on the Buddy List contextual menu.
Single-Sign On: A seamless Sign On experience can now be achieved for AIM users who are checking their AOL Webmail.
Smile! There’s a New Icon: A new camera icon has been added to the Buddy status on the Buddy List when a user publishes a photo.
Overall Interface Improvements and Bug Fixes: Enjoy user interface improvements and various bug fixes.

AIM Goes To Washington

AOLers shared the story of AIM at the White House and State Department recently and how the government could leverage Open AIM and other real-time communications tools powered by AOL. The AIM team’s Greg Cypes talked about AIM and how the government might be able to leverage Open AIM and other real-time communications tools powered by AOL. Jeremy Rephlo and Amy Craig, also from the AIM team, attended the event. The opportunity came during the kickoff of a European tour by Geeks on a Plane, a cultural exchange for entrepreneurs which was founded by Dave McClure and organized in DC with the help of AOLer Frank Gruber.
